DRIVE FOR FIVE UPDATE

Picture 3
As was discussed at last year's business meeting and in the Spring Newsletter, HCTD has really focused on increasing our membership towards the goal of 500 members. This isn't just a nice round number, but will boost the significance of our division at NCA, specifically in its governance. At 500 members, HCTD will be awarded an additional seat on the Legislative Assembly. With our Drive for Five membership recruiting effort, under the direction of Ulla Bunz and Nanette Hogg, HCTD sent out a e-mail to both current and previous members. This was to keep the current membership in place and re-recruit HCTD members. E-mails were sent to a total of 882 addresses (455 were current members & 427 were non-/former members).

As of the most recent membership list available to the Division (October 2005), our membership stands at 515. This represents an increase of over 13% (60 new members) from our spring membership! This result continues to indicate not only the strength of our membership, but also the increased interest that NCA members have in our division. As a result, we will be granted an additional seat on the NCA Legislative Assembly.

Despite this good news, we need to continue to not only strive to maintain this membership level, but to work actively to increase it. That will require the help of every member. We need you to encourage NCA members to attend our panels and presentations, and recruit them to become a member of our division.

We look forward to another successful convention in November, and with your help, it will be.

A special thanks goes out to Ulla and Nanette for their hard work!
